Saint Remy de Provence remains unspoiled by the many savvy tourists who visit there every summer to enjoy her quaint architecture and lovely tree-shaded squares, fabulous restaurants, and gastronomic specialty shops.  This is home to one of the most popular weekly outdoor markets in all of Provence. 

 

Your perfect day here begins with a visit to the market, some boutique shopping, lunch in a typical cafe; and not to be missed - a tour of Saint Paul de Maussole, where Van Gogh spent one year of his life and produced some of his most treasured works.  Saint Remy is surrounded by farmland, olive groves and wine vineyards - adjacent to Les Alpilles regional park.  So although it remains a buzzing place to be, within moments you are in a quiet, sycamore tree-lined road surrounded by beautiful countryside. You are closer to paradise here than almost anywhere else in Provence!

Half-day Private Excursion - Visit the historic center of St Remy, including Van Gogh and Roman historical sites.  Learn the story of this fascinating town on a quiet off-market day.  Tour a local olive oil mill, goat cheese producer and one neighboring village, Eygalieres, Maussane, or Les Baux de Provence.

Full-day Excursion - There is much to see and do in Les Alpilles.  I highly recommend spending at least one full day touring here. A full-day tour begins in the historic center of St Remy, including the Van Gogh or Roman sites, a visit to Les Baux de Provence and Les Carrieres du Lumiere.  Continuing on to nearby Arles to visit the historic town center is also an option.
